Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Brian is a Dean’s Executive Professor at the Leavey School of Business at 糖心传媒. His career spans corporate management, investment banking, and development economics, and is shaped by years of living in Asia, Europe, and America. Brian teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in business foundations, globalization, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. He brings a practitioner’s lens and global sensibility to the classroom, where his instruction sits at the intersection of business, finance, and public policy. In addition to teaching, Brian advises student research initiatives on capitalism’s tenuous balance between profitable growth and the common good. He is affiliated with the Department of Management, the Sustainable Business Institute, the Ciocca Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Miller Center for Global Impact.

Previously, Brian was a senior executive at Equinix, serving as the Chief of Staff to the CEO and Vice President of Strategy, Finance, and Sustainability. During his fourteen-year tenure, the company invested $19B in organic builds and M&A, grew revenues from $200M to $6B, expanded EBITDA margins from 32% to 48%, and increased its market capitalization from $700M to $40B - culminating in its inclusion in the S&P 500 Index. Over the same period, Equinix maintained an 85% employee engagement score and increased the share of renewable energy in its operations from 34% to 92%.

Before Equinix, Brian was an investment banker with Citi, based in London, Singapore, New York, and San Francisco. Over nine years, he advised Technology, Healthcare, and Consumer Products clients on more than $5 billion in M&A and capital markets transactions. Notable engagements included ALI Technologies’ sale to McKesson, SignalSoft’s IPO, Nestlé’s acquisition of PowerBar, the Carlyle Group’s buyout of Dr Pepper/7UP bottling assets, National Vision’s bond offering, Oetker’s acquisition of Kart Food, and Intel’s divestment of Unico, Varitronix, and Shinca.

Brian earned an MPhil in the Economics and Politics of Development from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a BA in Economics and Politics from Willamette University, USA. His academic coursework centered on development policy in emerging markets, and his research examined the political economy of trade liberalization in India, drawing on his upbringing in Mumbai.
